Windsor to start flood prevention work

The Town of Windsor has awarded approximately $2.5 million in contracts to two local construction companies to clean creeks and stabilize creek banks.

Work will help repair flood damage from last year's floods and help prevent future flooding by stabilizing creek banks, said Windsor Supervisor Randy Williams. Work will start in the spring and take about four months to complete.

Contracts include:

$896,000 to ZMK Construction of Apalachin for repairs to Occanum Creek near Klumpp Park in the Village of Windsor;

$883,123 to Boland's Excavating and Topsoil Inc. of Conklin for repairs to Occanum Creek from Klumpp Park to Main Street in the village;

$384,352 to Boland for Trowbridge Creek off Phillips Road;

$336,410 for Edson Creek off Randall Road.
